Becoming Aligned
For me,
Coaching is about evoking awareness with respect and enabling growth through disciplined action — so that subconscious behaviour aligns with conscious leadership — and in uncertainty, people remain aligned with who they are and where they want to go.
- Coaches evoke awareness — and you choose to fish.
- Advisors suggest where to fish — and you decide whether to go.
- Consultants catch the fish for you — and you rely on external experts.
- Mentors share how they learned to fish — and you develop your own way.
Coaching is like an Iceberg,
- What is presented is not always the full story. It is often only a small part of what is shaping behavior.
- Beneath the surface, thoughts, emotions, and past experiences quietly influence how we act and relate.
- What is said matters — but what remains unsaid often shapes the conversation even more.
- To be with the coachee without becoming the coachee.
Coaching often begins with a presenting issue — leadership situations, professional and personal transitions, decision-making under uncertainty, relational dynamics, and the challenge of remaining aligned under pressure.
But it gradually expands into deeper questions of awareness, identity, relationships, responsibility and aligned action.
You may wish to pause and reflect:
- What is pushing me to change?
- What is holding me back?
- Where am I today?
- How do I regulate my behavior to create change?
- How do I want to act?
- Where do I want to go?
- How do I stay aligned while pursuing my purpose?
- How can I transform myself despite my own inconsistencies?
